BJORNSON CONGRATULATES MANITOBA TEACHERS' SOCIETY ON 90TH ANNIVERSARY
Education, Citizenship and Youth Minister Peter Bjornson today
congratulated the Manitoba Teachers' Society (MTS) on its 90th
anniversary as a professional organization representing past and present
educators across the province.
"From one-room schoolhouses to today's modern classrooms, teaching has
drastically changed in the last 90 years. What remains constant is the
important role Manitoba teachers play in shaping the future of our
children and our province," Bjornson said. "I invite Manitobans to join
me today in expressing gratitude to the hard-working pioneers of the
teaching profession as well as to the dedicated and committed teachers
working in the province today."
MTS is one of Canada's oldest teachers' organizations, representing about 15,000 educators from all areas of Manitoba.
The minister noted he paid tribute to several outstanding teachers last
week at the annual Celebration of Excellence in Teaching Minister's
Awards at the Legislative Building. Awards were presented to deserving
educators for teaching excellence, outstanding new teacher, team
